GUIDELINES IN THE PREPARATION OF WORKTEXT



A. Parts of the Worktext



  1. Cover Page (to use the outside front cover) includes title of the instructional material worktext, name of authors, and name of editor ( if there is an editor of the work). At the back of this cover page at its bottom end bears the Student’s Name, Course & year, class schedule, and instructor’s name.

  2. Title Page (in the inside page) includes the title of the Instructional material such as worktext, names of authors, name of editor (if there is an editor of the work). Publisher’s name and address which is the Urdaneta City University, #1 San Vicente West, Urdaneta City.


    The back of the title page bears the title of the Instructional material such as worktext, copyright year Urdaneta City University and names of authors, ISBN number , publisher’s name, about the cover, copyright notice (e.g. No part of this worktext will… without permission from the authors), and printing press/company.


  3. Preface – in one separate page
  4. Acknowledgment - in one separate page
  5. Table of Contents
  6. Body –For exercises/worksheets: show the student’s name, class schedule, date, and score/rating and indicate perforation lines where students detach the page. Indicate the Chapter’s Title as Header per page of the text.
  7. References
  8. Appendices (if any)
  9. About the authors (to use the outside back cover)- Uses 5 to 8 sentence descriptions per author. It includes the author’s degree, scholarships, awards, designations/positions, subjects taught, and if married include the name of spouse and children. Passport size photo of authors are included.

B. Format



  1. Program: MS word or Publisher

  2. Font & Font Size: Verdana 10 for body text, Verdana 11 for the Chapter headings, Verdana 8 for table text

  3. Line Spacing: single in the text; double in between paragraphs/figures

  4. Chapter Header per Page: Include the Chapter’s Title

  5. Pagination: lower center position; use Verdana 10

  6. Margin: 1.25 for right and left sides; 1.00 for top and bottom

  7. Bond size: short coupon bond if whole page: long coupon bond if booklet type. The use of bond size depends on the nature/ usage of the instructional material as recommended by IMEC.
