Rationale

Special Education (SPED) is to induce a coherent educational program applicable to children and young adults who are considered with special needs. They are seemingly deferred from learning things about life and SPED allows them to become productive despite of being an exceptional or children and youth with special educational needs. Self-sufficiency and success in present and future environments are taken as the primary goals of special education programs. Constant appraisals of educational programs are able to respond to the challenges of current and future trends to sustain and retain the aforementioned purpose of special education are seen as countless efforts of educational institutions. Mainly, higher educational institutions (HEI’s) that are offering teacher education degree programs on SPED are dynamically determined to respond to the challenges of special needs of special children in the country.

Every Filipino child is entitled for their right to education regardless of their status and or whether with sensory and physical disabilities as well as behavioral problems. Extending an extraordinary means of cultivating and preparing them for real world tasks are not simple or ordinary. Keeping firm stand to promote quality education for all Filipino citizens should commence and be achieved for their better future.

Program Objectives

  1. Develop parenting awareness on related recreational activities for special children;
  2. Enhance primary skills and appropriate self-sufficiency task among special children; and
  3. Encourage parents of special children to encourage their child to the different well diverse activities that promotes inclusive recreational leading to functional learning.

Expected Output

The participants are expected to:

  1. apply the knowledge gained in the workshop;
  2. imbibe the importance of related recreational activities for special children; and
  3. Instill continuous observance of recreational activities for special children and linking it to become a rewarding means of functional learning.
