Eng’g studes notch 4th place in machine designing

Mechanical Engineering students grabbed the 4th spot in the National Competition of Machine Designing during the 6th PSME Mechanical Engineering Students’ Conference held on Oct. 19-22, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City. Ramil Rincuraya, Jan Christian Mayo, Jordan Vinluan, Kevin Locquiao, and Jonel Montelivano represented the university under the supervision of their coach Engr. Mark Oliver Tabayoyong. The said contest was a challenge of coming up with a mechanical design of a particular machine. The design has to be simple and will not cost much to make. The UCU students designed a machine where Ping-Pong and marble balls can be guided into their designated places. They used less material than their other rivals but their machine was durable and tough. The group’s design bested that of other engineering students’ and they emerged fourth from the other 74 participating universities.
Meanwhile, other winning universities include Bulacan State University, 1st place; Batangas State University, 2nd place; and Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, 3rd place.#
