Despite the monthly episodes of calamities, the yuletide season's spirit had never ceased in the hearts of UCUians as the Tunnel Lighting Ceremony marked the beginning of the month-long celebration of Christmas on December 1, 2020, at the Administrative Park.
Wearing their face masks and shields while observing social distancing, the university officials, academic deans, faculty members, and administrative staff convened together as they witnessed the Christmas Tunnel's ribbon-cutting ceremony.
It was spearheaded by the Acting University President, Atty. Dar. A. Diga; the Vice President for Administrative Affairs, Dr. Elisa C. Cristobal; and the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Noel L. Guevara.
Meanwhile, the entire UCU community joined together for the 10-second countdown before the UCU Christmas Tunnel's actual lighting.
Faculty members from the College of Teacher Education, Ms. Precious Krisanta Barozzo and Mr. Carl Joseph Bayabaya serenaded the crowd with various Christmas hits that brought the season's hype.
It can be recalled that UCU opened the first-ever Christmas Bazaar last year. A toned-down yuletide celebration is anticipated this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
