Urdaneta City University - College of Hospitality and Tourism Management celebrated this year’s World Tourism Month with the theme, “Tourism and Green Investment” on October 3, 2023, highlighting the critical role of responsible tourism by making environmentally-conscious choices, and urging the tourism industry to adopt sustainable practices.
With this advocacy, the search for Mr. and Ms. Tourism Management Ambassador 2023 became the main fete of the event, crowning Lenard Paluyo and Alexa Jewel Ibay the winning titles. Moreover, Christopher Quitlong and Karen Salazar were crowned first runners-up, Rei Jiro Jimenez and Norilyn Miguel as second runners-up, and Kenneth Domingo and Jamaica Gundayao as third runners-up.
Participants showcased their creative costume attires made from recycled materials, as a reflection of the various Philippine cultures and traditions.
Various separate activities were also held, as third year BS Tourism Management students from different block sections showcased their talents through Virtual Tour Guiding Competition, Tourism Movers Society Competition, Tour Package Proposal Making, Flight Attendant Showmanship, and Poster-Slogan Making.
The celebration did not come short of preparations. As Jerika Mae Manuel, the Acting President of the Tourism Movers Society said, “We prepared diligently for this event. Our goal was to prove our abilities to the CHTM students, and show how skilled we are, especially in our industry. With the help of our Dean, Program Heads, Instructors, TMS Adviser, and TMS officers, they all made this endeavor possible and memorable.”
