Day 2: Translating GEDSI principles into teaching practice
Building on the concepts introduced during the opening day, the second day on September 22 shifted the focus toward the practical application of gender-responsive principles in instruction.
Asst. Prof. de Jesus returned as resource speaker for "Gender-Responsive Teaching Methodologies," guiding participants in examining teaching approaches that recognize learner diversity and promote equitable participation in the classroom.
The succeeding discussion, "Inclusive Assessment and Gender-Fair Communication," was facilitated by Ms. Jullie Ann C. Reyes, University Research Association 1 of UPLB. The topic highlighted the role of assessment practices and communication in ensuring that classroom processes remain respectful, inclusive, and free from gender-based assumptions and bias.
Participants then put the concepts into practice through Workshop 2: "Integrating GEDSI into My Teaching Practice," translating the principles discussed into concrete approaches that can be
incorporated into their own instructional contexts.
A special session on Peer Coaching and Sharing of Practices further provided an avenue for participants to exchange experiences, re?ect on existing approaches, and learn from one another's classroom practices.
The day continued with "Gender Statistics and Gender Analysis Tools," led by Asst. Prof. Collado. The discussion introduced participants to the importance of using gender-related data and analytical tools to identify disparities, understand gender issues, and inform evidence-based interventions in the educational setting.
