UCU hosts Sports Fest 2023

Urdaneta City University (UCU) kicked off its highly anticipated Sports Fest 2023 at the University Gymnasium from December 11 to 13, 2023.

 

Themed "Igniting Infinite Potentials Through Sports," the three-day event saw teams from the UCU community's different academic and administrative units participate in interdepartmental sports activities.

The lineup of competitive sports included Badminton, Bench Cheers and Yells, Dance sports, Darts, E-Games, Karate-do,  Sepak Takraw, Taekwondo, Volleyball, and Track.

 

Chief Operating Officer Atty. Dar A. Diga opened the program with an inspiring welcome message followed by the official Torch Lighting Ritual presented by the Orata Dance Troupe.

 

Sports Fest 2023 culminated in the Dance sports as well as Bench Cheers and Yells Competitions. The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) was announced as champion in Dancesports, while the College of Pharmacy (COP) seized the championship for Bench Cheers and Yells.

 

The CHTM also claimed gold in Badminton Men’s Doubles, Taekwondo Women’s Pinweight/Flyweight/Featherweight Categories, Taekwondo Men’s Middleweight and Heavyweight Categories, Track Men’s 50/100 Meters, and Volleyball Men’s.

 

The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) finished with the most gold titles after emerging victorious in Badminton Men’s Singles, Darts Men’s Singles/Doubles, Taekwondo Men’s Bantamweight/Openweight Categories and Women’s Lightweight/Welterweight Categories, Track Men’s 200 Meters and Women’s 50/100/200 Meters.

 

Other units that won multiple gold medals include the College of Business Management and Accountancy (CBMA) in Darts Women’s Singles/Doubles and Taekwondo Women’s Middleweight Category; College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) in Badminton Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles; and College of Teacher Education (CTE) in Taekwondo Men’s Pinweight/Flyweight Categories and Volleyball Women’s.

Meanwhile, units that took home at least one gold recognition include the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) in Badminton Women’s Singles, College of Human Sciences (CHUMS) in Taekwondo Men’s Featherweight Category, and College of Information and Technology Education (CITE) in E-Games.
