With the objective to enhanced and ensure the efficient delivery and service of laboratories in colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) and College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) of Urdaneta City University collaborated to conduct a seminar-training dedicated to laboratory custodians, assistants, caretakers on May 9, 2024 at the University Cafeteria.
Engr. Lorena Angulo, Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, spoke about waste management, while Mr. Ginmark Cabico, faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences, discussed general laboratory safety measures to mitigate potential chemical, fire, and other hazards.
Also, Dr. Princess Sarah Quintana, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, explained the importance of good laboratory storage and inventory practices. Meanwhile, Mr. John Leonard Caluag, Director of UCU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, discussed basic first aid procedures that every laboratory custodian should remember.
The seminar aimed to orient and train laboratory custodians, assistants, and caretakers to enhance their skills in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling activities within a laboratory setting, while encouraging them to consider themselves as essential parts of the university community, fostering the honing of their capabilities.
UCU continues to ensure that its personnel are equipped with the necessary competencies to perform their duties effectively and efficiently while mitigating possible risks and ensuring a safe working environment for all stakeholders.
