The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) - Region 1, in collaboration with the UCU Center for Student Leadership and Development (CSLD), and the local government of Urdaneta, distributed the scholarship grants under the Tulong Dunong Program (TDP), at the university’s holding area on May 13, 2024.
The 188 selected student grantees from different colleges in Urdaneta City received cash assistance under the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education through TDP scholarships.
The distribution of scholarship grants were led by Alexis Moira Dolores, Arlene Mae Gamazon, Joselle Collado and Carl Jenver Duclayan, project technical staff of CHED.
“Very important po sa’kin iyong cash assistance na natanggap ko kasi lalo na ngayon may thesis po kami iyon po iyong gagamitin namin na pambayad and mas male-lessen iyong expenses nung mama ko kasi sa kaniya po ako humihingi. Hindi na po ako hihingi sa kaniya iyon na lang po iyong gagamitin namin sa thesis.”
Third-year BACOMM student Erika Tambo explained that the cash assistance will serve as a thesis payment to lessen her parents' burden in paying school expenses.
This provides financial aid to UCUians to pursue their tertiary education with ease and motivate them to finish their degree.
