UCU advances international research goals

Urdaneta City University conducted a seminar on June 5, 2025 to enhance its global competitiveness through research and extension internationalization.

 

The seminar, titled “Enhancing Research and Extension Capacities: Internationalization & Global University Rankings,” gathered academic leaders, faculty, and research stakeholders to discuss strategies for global collaboration and institutional ranking improvement.

 

Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Atty. Michael Henry Sevilleja, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, opened the program with welcome remarks emphasizing research and internationalization as key to global standards.

 

The seminar featured two workshops and a panel discussion.

Workshop 1, “Research Metrics and Global Collaboration,” explored metrics affecting international rankings and methods to build partnerships abroad.

 

The panel discussion, “SDGs and the Global Impact of Extension,” focused on aligning extension programs with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and enhancing outreach impact.

 

Workshop 2, “Research Documentation and Citation Strategies,” was led by Mr. Sonny Soriano, Director for External Affairs and Linkages, and offered techniques to improve research visibility through proper citation.

Dr. Guevara, Director of the Center for Research and Development, encouraged participants to publish on platforms like Google Scholar and Scopus to increase institutional prestige.

 

Dr. Mara Pelaez, Research Coordinator of the College of Teacher Education, described the seminar as “exceptionally informative and inspiring,” noting its relevance to institutions aiming for global recognition.

 

The seminar concluded with a reaffirmed commitment to excellence through research productivity and international engagement.#
