UCU-CTE conducts 3rd pinning, send-off ceremony

UCU College of Teacher Education conducted its third Pinning and Send-Off Ceremony on February 8, 2024 at the University Gymnasium, creating another batch of promising student-teachers, aspiring to gain their professional licenses.

The event featured two key ceremonies: the Pinning and Whistle ceremony, and a Candle Lighting ceremony, honoring students from various majors of the college: Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Special Needs Education, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Physical Education, and Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education.

Dr. Mitchellene Vigilia-Rivo, Education Supervisor II of the Commission on Higher Education - Region 1 (CHEDRO1), served as the Guest Speaker. In her address, she emphasized the significance of embracing the Matatag agenda, urging the students to embody the roles of educators and advocates for transformation.

"Now, as you step into the heart of the Matatag agenda, remember its essence: making actors of teachers and advocates of transformation, achieving teamwork, upholding accountability, and generating passion.

These are not mere words, but guiding principles that will empower you to be the change-makers our education system desperately needs," remarked Dr. Vigilia-Rivo.

She further encouraged the future UCUian teachers to actively engage with their students, fostering an environment of curiosity and exploration. "Be actors, not spectators. Step beyond the lecture, and into the learning circle. Engage your students, ignite their curiosity, and create an environment where exploration thrives. Let your lessons be more than information transfer, make their journeys of discovery– where questions are celebrated, and creativity flourishes.”

This milestone not only symbolized the culmination of academic endeavors but also marked the beginning of a profound commitment to shaping the future of education. As these newly minted teachers embark on their professional journeys, they carry with them the responsibility to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation, thus perpetuating a legacy of learning and growth.
