Urdaneta City University (UCU), as proposed and organized by the Center of Community Development and Extension Services (CCDES), conducted a series of training on leadership capability from July to October 2021 for the barangay officials and public servants of Barangay Sugcong, Urdaneta City, wrapping it up with two final sessions entitled: “Courtesy and Discipline”, and “Improving Positive Self-Esteem,” last October 22, 2021.
The center partnered with different colleges, departments and offices in honing the skills and knowledge of the people in the community.
The first three sessions were delivered as follows: Values Formation on July 16, 2021 which focused on knowing and understanding self-worth to be able to value others through righteous service; Human Relations and Arts of Communication on July 30, 2021 which emphasized that communication with the right attitude is essential in public service; and Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) Act or R.A. 9262 on August 20, 2021 which aimed to educate barangay officials and workers of Sugcong on how to properly handle VAWC cases.
