Deans, Program Leaders set UCU global goals in forum

Urdaneta City University (UCU) conducted the D.I.P.L.O.M.A.T. (Deans and Internationalization Program Leaders Organizing Multinational Academic Transformation) forum on June 3, 2025, with the aim to promote internationalization and global academic transformation among institutional leaders.

 

The full-day seminar, held at the University Cafeteria, brought together deans, program heads, and internationalization champions to discuss strategies for global competitiveness.

 

Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Atty. Michael Henry Sevilleja, Vice President for Administrative Affairs, delivered inspirational messages reinforcing the university’s commitment to innovation and collaboration.

Mr. Justine Isip, LPT, from the External Affairs and Linkages Office, presented the event rationale, stressing the strategic role of internationalization in enhancing academic prestige.

 

Prof. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno, President of GHF University Excellence, emphasized the importance of SCOPUS-indexed research in boosting global rankings and journal quality.

 

Dr. Erwin Faller, Academic Director of Holy Child Central Colleges, introduced best practices in Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) to encourage tech-based cross-border engagement.

 

Prof. Joe-an Mae G. Escober, PhD, from Central Philippines State University, presented a case study on CPSU’s internationalization strategies and achievements.

 

Dr. Sonny Soriano, UCU Director for External Affairs and Linkages, discussed key frameworks including Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, UI GreenMetric, and AppliedHE Rankings.

 

He also highlighted the practical value of microcredentials and COIL in improving global learning opportunities and employability.

Dr. Soriano concluded by launching the UCU-IZN Roadmap, a strategic plan aimed at expanding global linkages, mobility programs, and collaborative research.

 

Prof. Johannes Rabago, Dean of the College of Information Technology Education described the forum as enriching and valuable for international academic growth:
