Future UCUian Engineers and Architects honored in Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony 2025

The UCU College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) celebrated the milestone achievements of its graduating students through a Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony with the theme “Forging Pathways: Innovating Standards through Integrity, Inclusion, and Industry Readiness” on May 28, 2025 held at the University Gymnasium.

Delivering a moving keynote address, Engr. Angelo O. Lastrella urged the students to carry with them not just technical competence but character as they forge their paths forward: “Napaka-importante po ng character. Nababale-wala po ang mga skills kung walang character,” he said.

Engr. Lastrella also reminded the graduating students to appreciate what they have, especially the luxury of education, because not everybody has that.

In closing, Engr. Lastrella emphasized the importance of collective growth and inclusion: “Let us continue to build a culture where diversity is our strength and collaboration is our tradition. We are not just Engineers and Architects—we are innovators, builders of our tomorrow, and stewards of our shared future.”

Meanwhile, Engr. Lorena Angulo, CEA’s College Dean, marked the ceremony as a defining moment for the graduating batch, encouraging them to embrace leadership and innovation as they transition into industry roles.

“This hard hat you will wear today is more than just safety gear, it’s a symbol of responsibility, resilience, and the readiness to build and protect. And the pin? That’s your badge of honor, marking your journey of the values that define us here at Urdaneta City University.”

Hard Hatting and Pinning session followed, as the students majoring in different fields in engineering and architecture were accompanied by their parents and guardians.

The ceremony recognizes the students’ preparedness for internship and on-the-job-training engagements. It also served as a platform to celebrate academic accomplishments with mentors and peers, and to foster a strong culture of professionalism, ethical conduct, unity, and shared identity among future engineers and architects.#
