UCU hosts PLSP for benchmarking visit

Urdaneta City University welcomed delegates from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo (PLSP) on May 30, 2025, for a benchmarking activity focused on educational advancement.

 

The collaboration aimed to explore UCU’s transition to a Local Economic Enterprise, practices in Teacher and Business Education, accreditation and quality assurance efforts, and research and extension initiatives for community engagement.

 

Dr. Ryan Jayson V. Delos Reyes, the Dean of UCU College of Teacher Education, emphasized the event’s purpose in his welcome remarks, stating that, “This initiative is not simply to compare, but to transform; to adopt what works and adapt what is necessary for excellence.”

 

Dr. Sigredo C. Adajar, the PLSP College Administrator, thanked UCU for its hospitality and remarked, “This benchmarking activity has truly been a valuable experience, the insights you’ve shared from your systems and practices, to your institutional innovations, will significantly guide us at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng San Pablo.”

 

PLSP delegates included Dr. Kurt Cyrus John B. Cabral, the Quality Assurance Director, Dr. Jay Ann C. Octoman, the Dean of the College of Teacher Education, Assoc. Prof. Kristine Ann C. Corcega, the Research and Development Director, Asst. Prof. Lorena E. Bautista, the Vice Chair of Academic Council, Reeza R. Suazo, the Extension and Training Services Director, Melody A. Pere, the Board Secretary, Annabel Escolano, the Admin Services Director, and Nazaria Marasigan from the HR Office. 

 

UCU representatives presented on key areas including teacher education by Mr. Jaspher Mamasig Guzman, business management by Dr. Pelilia Veloso and Mr. Claiver Soriano, and accreditation preparation by Prof. Rhea M. Agibuay.

 

Research and extension strategies were shared by Dr. Noel L. Guevara and Dr. Jerry Dichoso, respectively, while Dr. Sonny Soriano discussed UCU’s internationalization efforts.

 

“Iisa ang ating sayaw, iisa ang ating tugtog, iisa ang ating tunguhin dahil pare-pareho po tayo na nasa local colleges and universities. Isang karangalan sa amin na maka-sayaw sa iisang tugtog ang Urdaneta City University,” Dr. Adajar further said, marking the visit a success.
