The Human Capital Management Office held its orientation program for teaching personnel yesterday at the University Gymnasium.
The program is one of the retention strategies of the HCMO aimed at directing senior and junior faculty members in their roles and responsibilities to enhance their job performance.
Additionally, top university personnel also reminded and reintroduced some guidelines and privileges that teaching personnel must understand as government employees.
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio reiterated the trifocal function of the university, namely: instruction, research, and extension.
She also emphasized that faculty members, whether senior or junior, should be supportive of various university and college-wide endeavors.
"Kapag may university activities at college activities, suportahan natin ang mga programang ito ng 100%. Tayong mga senior faculty ang mag-lead sa ating mga junior faculty members sa mga ganitong mga aktibidad," Lambinicio petitioned.
She also mentioned that the University is still implementing a blended learning approach following the cyclical pattern of class schedules.
OIC – University Registrar Jofil Z. Lomboy shared the calendar of activities for A.Y. 2023-2024, duly noted by the Commission on Higher Education Region 1.
All bachelor programs for this semester are scheduled from August 22 until December 21, while graduate programs are set from August 27 to December 17, 2023.
Furthermore, he provided the dates for periodical examinations: Preliminary Examination on September 27, 29, and 30; Midterm Examination on November 8, 10, and 11; and Final Examination on December 16, 20, and 21.
For the graduate school, the midterm exam is on October 22, while the final exam is on December 17.
The Christmas break will start on December 22, 2023, and continue until January 6, 2024.
Lomboy reiterated to faculty members the importance of punctuality in submitting their grades for smoother operations and transactions within the University and with CHEd.
UCU Personnel Association President Dr. Eleuterio S. Sison outlined the association's programs to support its members, especially those in need of assistance.
He also supported Lambinicio's call to support different academic activities. "Ipakita natin na iisa tayong pamilya," he said.
Nursing Program Head Dr. Alyssa Ashley R. Diego reintroduced the University’s learning management system known as iKonek, which was developed by the UCU Management Information Systems.
Engr. Loid Hendricks A. Olimpo also provided some updates on iKonek4, specifically regarding course reuse and overriding student activities.
HCMO head Dr. Joey H. Barroga highlighted concerns about salary, benefits, incentives, and Civil Service Commission (CSC) and University policies.
He also mentioned that teaching personnel can now update their personal data sheets and 201 files through the newly developed Human Resource Management Information System.
UCU Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Director John Leonard L. Caluag reminded participants to observe students who exhibit symptoms of sore eyes and flu to mitigate unforeseen circumstances.
He also announced that their office, in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross – Pangasinan Chapter, will conduct Standard First Aid Training and Basic Life Support/CPR with AED from September 18 to 21.
