Student teachers gear up for internship

Student teachers from the College of Teacher Education (CTE) are set to embark on their practice teaching journey as they participated in the 2nd Pinning and Send-off ceremony following a week-long series of training held on March 27-31, 2023, at the University Gymnasium.

The in-campus training covered a series of lectures including the Department of Education’s (DepEd) learning management system, grading system, lesson planning, test construction, school forms, classroom management, teaching demonstration, personality development, and dress code.

Discussions in each training session were discussed by experienced educators from the DepEd who provided participants with pedagogical knowledge and skills necessary to prepare them for the real-world challenges of the education sector.

A symbolic pinning and send-off ceremony concluded the week-long event with student teachers receiving their pins, signaling their transition from the academe to the field as practice teachers. The pinning ceremony, which represented the ideals and values of the teaching profession, also marked the culmination of their pre-service training to embark on experiential learning opportunities in the field.

Faculty members and parents celebrated with the future teachers and reflected on their commitment and dedication to the teaching profession. They also extended their congratulations to the student teachers and wished them success in their future endeavors.

Dr. Ryan Jayson Delos Reyes, CTE dean, urged all the student teachers to serve as role models for the learners and the community and reminded them about the teachers’ pivotal role in shaping future generations.

The in-service training or practice teaching is the total immersion of a student teacher in the actual teaching world.#
