Urdaneta City University (UCU) successfully conducted its GLOBALINK: Global Learning and International Knowledge Exchange – Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Workshop on April 14, 2026 at the University Cafeteria.
The COIL workshop aimed to equip academic leaders and faculty members with the competencies needed to design and deliver globally connected courses.
University leaders underscored the role of mindset and innovation in advancing COIL initiatives. Chief Operating Officer Atty. Dar A. Diga emphasized that “the implementation of COIL begins with everyone’s willingness to learn.”
Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Josephine S. Lambinicio highlighted the need for broader impact, noting that COIL should “shine not only within the University but across the global academic community.”
Meanwhile, Vice President for Administrative Affairs Atty. Michael Henry C. Sevilleja stressed that a strong drive to learn fuels innovation and the generation of new ideas.
Through the workshop, participants developed COIL-based course proposals, explored potential international partnerships, and integrated digital collaboration strategies into their teaching practices. These efforts aim to equip students with global competencies while learning within the classroom.
Faculty participants recognized the COIL program as a valuable platform for global engagement and collaboration with international institutions. One participant shared that “COIL opens new learning opportunities that enhance students’ experiences and prepare them for a globally competitive environment.”
Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—SDG 4, SDG 9, and SDG 17—UCU continues to strengthen its internationalization efforts and advance future-ready education.
