Urdaneta City University celebrated the Bible Month through a music competition conducted on January 29, 2024 at the University Amphitheater.
Spearheaded by the University Chaplain, Rev. Saturnino Garabiles, the tilt was made open for both employees and students.
The winners in different categories are as follows:
SOLO CATEGORY
1. First Place - Ronken Q. Ventura
2. Second Place - Christopher Ian Bulac
3. Third Place - Joshua L. Parajas
DUET CATEGORY
1. First Place - Mark Brian Dela Cruz and Angelo Concepcion
2. Second Place - Sherina Tavera and Patrick Tadli
ORIGINAL SONGWRITING/SINGING CATEGORY
1. First Place - Precious Barrozo emerged as the grand victor with her original composition, "God is Coming Very Soon”
2. Second Place - Johnny Ray Belgica with his original piece, "Kay Yahweh”
3. Third Place - Joseph Allen Elegado and The Agape Band with their original song, "Ang Salita ng Diyos”
Additional commendation and cash prizes were awarded to other noteworthy participants for their original compositions:
1. Alizea Shulee Nagamos - "Magtiwala"
2. Mikkaela Anteola - "Ako’y Ihatid Tungo sa Tagumpay”
3. Ezrah Jewel Dasalla and Ejaden Band - "Kalakasan"
4. Princes Jackie Alberto - "Tapat"
5. Aldwin Pudol - "Bangon"
6. Dan Gil Baybayan - "Papuri sa Ama"
The UCU Chaplain distributed Bibles to the entire academic community, to further celebrate the day.
Republic Act No. 11163 or the “National Bible Day Act” declares that the last Monday of January of every year shall be an observance of the National Bible Day to aid and encourage development of the moral character and spiritual foundation of the Filipino people. As a predominantly Christian nation and the largest Christian nation in the Asia Pacific, this Act recognizes the value of the Holy Bible as the core of Christian faith.
