With the aim to advance gender equality and align educational goals with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Urdaneta City University conducted a seminar entitled, "Innovative Practices in Higher Education to Promote Gender Equality and the Sustainable Development Goals” attended by the different College Deans, Program Heads, and Research Coordinators on October 11, 2024 held at the University Cafeteria.
One resource speaker, Dr. Ellen M. Halover, the Director of Quality Assurance Office of the University of Baguio, talked about the "Impact Rankings Methodology Across Sustainable Development Goals," highlighting how universities can leverage global impact rankings to drive sustainable development and accountability in gender-focused initiatives.
Dr. Halover underscored the role of higher education institutions in evaluating and improving their contributions toward the SDGs, particularly regarding gender inclusivity and equitable education practices.
Another speaker, Dr. Donnavila Marie B. Panday, the Director of Research and Development Center of the University of Baguio, discussed "Sustainable Development Goals in the Tertiary Higher Education," emphasizing how integrating the SDGs within academic programs can create transformative changes in student awareness and engagement.
Dr. Panday provided examples of programs that empower students to address societal issues through the lens of sustainability and gender equality, encouraging an educational model that not only informs but also inspires social responsibility.
The event marked a step forward for the university in its commitment to embedding gender equality and sustainable development in its institutional goals.
