Urdaneta City University officially kicked off the UCU Employees Sportsfest 2026 with the theme “GAD Unity in Motion: Inclusive Sports and Wellness for UCU Employees Year 2” on March 6, 2026, at the University Gymnasium.

The opening ceremony began with a parade of clusters, coaches, and officials around the university. Prof. Eleuterio SC. Sison, UCUPA President, and Dr. Ryan Jayson V. Delos Reyes, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, delivered messages of support during the opening program, emphasizing that the sportsfest serves as a platform for unity, camaraderie, and employee engagement beyond the workplace.

Meanwhile, Dr. Jerry C. Dichoso, Co-Chairman of the UCU Employees' Sportsfest 2026, led the symbolic torch lighting, marking the official start of the competition.

University employees were grouped into four clusters representing different colleges and offices.

Cluster 1 represents the Administration. Cluster 2 includes the College of Criminal Justice Education, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Business Management and Accountancy. Cluster 3 consists of the College of Teacher Education, College of Hospitality and Tourism Management, College of Engineering and Architecture, and the Institute of Graduate and Advanced Studies. Cluster 4 includes the College of Information Technology Education, College of Pharmacy, College of Health Sciences, College of Human Sciences, College of Law, and the National Service Training Program.

Employees will compete in eight sports activities, namely: Basketball, Volleyball, Zumba, Table Tennis, Badminton, Chess, Darts, and Mobile Legends Game Competition.

This year's sportsfest aims to promote gender awareness and mainstreaming through sports, while encouraging wellness, personal development, and social engagement among university employees.

The event also seeks to strengthen camaraderie, sportsmanship, and solidarity among employees as one UCU family.
