In celebration of World Teachers’ Day, Urdaneta City University hosted an insightful dialogue on Republic Act 7192, known as the Women in Development and Nation Building Act on October 7, 2024 at the University Gymnasium.
The event shed light on critical Gender and Development (GAD) issues, aiming to inspire and educate students and faculty alike on the importance of gender equality and equitable access to opportunities.
Dr. Marianne Villaruel, the event’s resource speaker, led the discussion by addressing key topics such as the distinctions between sex and gender, the principles of gender equality and equity, and the role of gender mainstreaming in schools and communities. Her expertise provided a comprehensive understanding of how RA 7192 promotes not just women's rights but also a more inclusive society.
The dialogue was marked by interactive activities that actively engaged faculty members and students, encouraging participation and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Following the mini-seminar, attendees eagerly posed questions, reflecting their enthusiasm to deepen their knowledge on GAD topics.
This meaningful event underscored UCU's commitment to promoting gender awareness and inclusivity within its academic and social framework.
