UCU promotes safe space, hosts seminar on RA 11313

Urdaneta City University, with the aim to promote and instill the vital role of safe space within the academic community, hosted a seminar entitled "UCU IS SAFE: Tackling Hazing, Bullying, and Terrorism through Education and Awareness,” bringing together students, faculty, and staff to address critical social issues, on November 25, 2024 at the University Gymnasium.

Republic Act no. 11313: Safe Spaces Act or the Bawal Bastos Law is an act defining gender-based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, online workplaces, and educational or training institutions, providing protective measures and prescribing penalties.

The seminar featured engaging discussions led by Atty. Antonio D. Rebosa, a renowned expert from the American Board of Legal Medicine.

Atty. Rebosa delved into the pressing concerns of hazing, bullying, and terrorism, providing practical insights and strategies to recognize, prevent, and address these challenges within the university setting.

The safe space seminar emphasized the importance of creating a culture of safety and mutual respect, stressing the university community’s role in fostering a secure and inclusive environment. The seminar also underscored the need for continuous education and awareness initiatives to combat these issues proactively.

UCU remains steadfast in its mission to be a safe space for learning, growth, and inclusivity.
