Urdaneta City University conducted a seminar-workshop on “Teaching Excellence and Professionalism for Effective Learning Facilitation” on June 26-28, 2024 held at the University Cafeteria.
Arranged by batches, the endeavor was designed to equip the teaching personnel on quality teaching strategies, methods, and practices, aiming to have more effective and efficient learning outcomes.
The comprehensive program covered a range of topics critical to effective teaching and learning which included: (1) crafting of Outcome-Based Teaching and Learning (OBTL) to emphasize the importance of aligning teaching objectives with desired student outcomes, ensuring that learning activities and assessments are designed to meet these goals; (2) crafting of Table of Specifications (TOS) and delving into the principles of Test Development and Assessment, to ensure that tests accurately measure the intended learning outcomes and maintain content validity; and (3) innovative Teaching Strategies and conducting a Needs Assessment to identify areas for improvement in teaching practices.
Throughout the seminar-workshop, faculty members actively participated in group discussions, hands-on activities, and collaborative exercises. These sessions provided opportunities for educators to share their experiences, exchange ideas, and learn from one another. The collaborative atmosphere fostered a sense of community and collective commitment to improving teaching effectiveness.
The seminar-workshop concluded with a commitment from the faculty to implement the new strategies and approaches in their classrooms, setting a strong foundation for continuous improvement in teaching quality at the University.
