Urdaneta City Commemorates 124th Independence Day

Urdaneta City celebrates the 124th anniversary of the Philippine independence with the theme  “Kalayaan 2022: Pagsuong sa Hamon ng Panibagong Bukas (Rise Towards the Challenge of a New Beginning)” on June 12, 2022 at the Urdaneta City Old City Hall.

The celebration started with a wreath-laying ceremony on the Rizal’s Monument followed by the flag-raising ceremony at the Old City Hall attended by the City Officials headed by the Urdaneta City Mayor Julio “Rammy” F. Parayno III, heads and staff of the local government unit, employees of Urdaneta City University, Philippine National Police and other members of the community.

WB Elmer L. Aquino of the Urdaneta City Masonic Lodge started the ceremony by paying tribute to the Philippine flag and emphasizing its importance to the country’s freedom and national identity.

“Ito'y siyang sagisag ng pambansang kalayaan na naglalarawan ng lahat ng kaakit-akit at dumadakila sa buhay ng mga Pilipino. Hinubog ng matipunong kamay ng panahon at binigyang buhay ng isang mapagmahal sa kalayaan ng mamamayan,” he said. 

 

Meanwhile, Mayor Parayno pointed out the role of every citizen in upholding freedom and encouraged Urdanetanians to take part in shaping our country’s future and history.

“Kailangan nating matanto na ang ating ginagawa ay dapat nakatuon sa kung ano ang magagawa mo bilang ganti sa ating mga ninuno na nakipaglaban para sa ating kasarinlan. Ang lahat ng ating ginagawa ay magiging bahagi na ng kasaysayan,” the local chief executive said.
