The orientation program focused on the Human Resource Development (HRD) Visiting Expert Program which aims to support faculty and non-teaching personnel in disseminating their research outputs in different local and international conferences concerning industry, energy, and emerging technology sectors.
DOST-PCIEERD HRD and Institution Development Division Project Managers Ms. Julie Ann Atienza and Engr. They also answered queries and concerns with regard to the guidelines and eligibility of the said program.
Meanwhile, UCU Acting University President Dr. Amihan April M. Alcazar gave her thoughts on the professional and institutional development opportunities that the program has to offer.
“As we can recall, the four functions of the university will be curriculum development, instructional design, research and extension services, as well as production. Definitely, on the part of research and development, we want to be with the emerging trends and develop the capability of our human resources in research in order to enhance and enrich our research capabilities,” Dr. Alcazar said.
“I am very much looking forward to the orientation and we hope that you will express your interest in working together and in collaborating with the DOST so that we can come up with a very good research capability and capacity building activities,” she added eyeing to uplift the culture of research in the university through the said program.
The PCIEERD is one of the three sectoral planning councils of the DOST which aims to develop national competence in research in strategic areas of industry, energy, and emerging technology sectors through the formulation of national policies, plans, programs, and strategies, and the allocation of funds for research.
