In celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa, Urdaneta City University hosted a vibrant cultural event on August 30, 2024, at the University Gymnasium, highlighting the theme “Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya.”
The day was filled with various competitions showcasing the richness of the Filipino language and culture, drawing participation from students across different colleges.
Competitions such as Obra-Sining, TulaRawan, Tagisan ng Talino, Balagtasan, TulAwit, Sabayang Pagbigkas, and the much-anticipated Ginoo at Binibining Habi 2024 awarded exceptional talent from the university’s academic units.
The College of Teacher Education (CTE) emerged as a dominant force, securing first place in multiple categories, including Obra-Sining, Tagisan ng Talino, TulAwit, and Sabayang Pagbigkas.
The event concluded with the crowning of Ed Christian De Leon (CTE) and Rogelyn Lorica (CHTM) as Ginoo at Binibining Habi 2024. First-place runners-up were Jerry Miranda (CHUMS) and Dannah Pasco (CTE), while Jerold James Allas and Kristine Stanilla (CITE) claimed second place.
The program highlighted not only the creative talents of the students but also the importance of fostering a deeper appreciation for the Filipino language as a liberating force.
The celebration was a resounding success, leaving the university community inspired to continue championing the Filipino identity and culture.
