UCU employees kicks off SportsFest 2024

With the theme “UNITY IN MOTION: Empowering Inclusive Wellness and Sports with Gender and Development for all UCU Employees," Urdaneta City University launched its 2024 SportsFest exclusively for employees on November 25, 2024 at the University Quadrangle.

The opening ceremony began with a vibrant parade of clusters, coaches, and officials, setting a festive tone for the day. Attendees were treated to an impressive demonstration by UCU’s skilled athletes in Arnis, Karatedo, and Taekwondo, showcasing discipline, strength, and dedication.

Dr. Jerry C. Dichoso, Co-Chairman of SportsFest 2024, formally introduced the participants, emphasizing the importance of unity and active engagement. This was followed by the symbolic torch lighting ceremony, led by Prof. Eleuterio SC. Sison, UCUPA President, signifying the spirit of fair play and teamwork. Oliver M. Begenio, Deputy Head Coach, then presented the event lineup and competition schedule, ensuring everyone was prepared for the exciting activities ahead.

The highlight of the opening day was the Zumba competition, where employees showcased their energy and creativity, embodying the SportsFest’s commitment to promoting wellness in an inclusive and enjoyable manner.

Dr. Hilarion V. Olimpo, Chairman of SportsFest 2024, expressed his gratitude to all participants and organizers for their dedication to making the event a success. He also highlighted the significance of fostering a sense of unity and well-being among UCU employees through initiatives like this.

As SportsFest 2024 continues, UCU employees are set to participate in a variety of events that not only encourage physical fitness but also strengthen bonds within the university community. 

The event brought together the entire university community to celebrate camaraderie, wellness, and inclusivity through sports and physical activities.
