UCU ends the year by giving back

Urdaneta City University culminated 2022 in a Thanksgiving and Year-End Party at the University Gymnasium, December 19.

Acting University President, Dr. Amihan April C. Mella-Alcazar and Chief Operating Officer Atty. Dar A. Diga led the celebration of giving back to all teaching and non-teaching personnel.

"We would like to thank everybody for coming to this event. It's about giving, it's about celebrating. And the University has this intention to give a sort of remembrance to its employees," said Diga in welcoming all employees on the occasion.

The event started with a brief seminar facilitated by the Director of Center for Student Leadership and Development, Dr. Nhorly U. Domenden, on "Laughter Yoga" and its benefits when regularly done. All employees, together with Dr. Mella-Alcazar herself, participated in a fun laughter yoga activity.

Various employees' talents were showcased through group dancing and solo singing, as the Top 3 winners of the previous Zumba competition performed live. Classic party games such as "Bring Me" were also enjoyed by all University personnel. Each of the colleges, offices, and departments brought food to share with the rest of their colleagues, highlighting the meaning of the endeavor, which is to give back.

The most-awaited part of the year-end celebration was the Raffle Draw, where UCU chooses random employee-winners in a raffle draw box, with a chance to win huge prizes. From a full sack of rice to kitchen appliances, up to the grand prize of a two-door refrigerator, which was luckily won by Mr. Meeko Sagmit of the Accounting office.

"As we go along, I hope we will have this continued passion in teaching and giving instructions to our students, and also sowing the seeds of knowledge to our students," said Atty. Diga, reminding everybody of the University's greatest vision and mission: instill in our students a noble spirit to face the realities of the world, outside the portals of UCU.

"We have a lot of things to celebrate, we have a lot of things to be thankful for this year, and of course to give back. Again, may we have a merry and happy Christmas!" Atty. Diga added.
