Urdaneta City University (UCU), in partnership with the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) - Pangasinan Chapter, successfully conducted Danggayan iti Linteg: UCU ULAS 2026 on April 21, 2026, at the Urdaneta City Cultural and Sports Complex, reinforcing its commitment to accessible and gender-responsive legal services.

The program featured a seminar on legal rights, highlighting the role of the Unified Legal Aid Service (ULAS) in promoting gender-responsive development and expanding access to justice. ULAS is a project by the Supreme Court of the Philippines.

Atty. Angela Mericci G. Mejia, Attorney IV and Legal Officer of Region 1 Medical Center, discussed ULAS as a mechanism for advancing gender-responsive initiatives. Meanwhile, Judge Cynthia Martinez Florendo, Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court in San Jose City, Nueva Ecija, emphasized legal aid as a vital tool for gender equality and the protection of women.

An open forum followed, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers.

Following the seminar, UCU and IBP delivered a range of free legal services, including legal aid, consultation, and notarial assistance for simple documents. The initiative enabled attendees to access immediate, practical legal support in a one-stop setting.

Present during the event were UCU officials Atty. Samson E. Florendo, Dean of the College of Law; Atty. Michael Henry C. Sevilleja, Vice President for Administrative Affairs; and Atty. Dar A. Diga, Chief Operating Officer, underscoring the university’s strong institutional support for community outreach and legal empowerment.

In her closing remarks, Edlice Grace U. Rojo, IBP Pangasinan Legal Aid Vice Chairperson for the 5th District, highlighted the significance of sustained collaboration in making legal services more inclusive and accessible to the public.

Anchored on the principle, “Where there is a right, there is a remedy—delivered fairly, equally, and inclusively for all,” the successful conduct of Danggayan iti Linteg: UCU ULAS 2026 reflects a unified effort to bring justice closer to the people and strengthen public awareness of legal rights.
