History

The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management started in a humble beginning under the College of Arts and Sciences (formerly College of Science and Mathematics) of Urdaneta City University in 2006. The University boosted the promotions of short term courses in the hospitality industry by opening TESDA accredited programs in Hotel and Restaurant Services namely: Bachelor of Science in Tourism major in Travel Management and Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management. With the enduring passion for quality education, programs under the college grew rapidly with the same vision of reaching deserving students to be future hoteliers, restaurateurs, and entrepreneurs.

In 2006, upon the administration of Dr. Elizabeth A. Montero, the college started to offer newly-created programs which were Two-Year Hotel and Restaurant Services, Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management under the tutelage of Dean Princess Sarah M. Quintana. These programs spawned more population to Urdaneta City University.

In the same year, the growth of these programs provided more teaching force, building facilities, internationalization of its OJTs and graduates that were fully TESDA-certified as competent for abroad which were significant factors for the Level II accreditation by ALCUCOA to Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management and Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management. These achievements led to the separation of these programs to an independent college by virtue of the Board of Trustees the institution approved the change of the name of the College of Hotel and Restaurant Management to College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) and its Revised Curriculum. The BSHRM curriculum was reviewed, revised and approved based on CMO 30 s.2009, in which the Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management was changed to Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management with three major areas of concentration: Hotel Management, Culinary Arts, and Cruise Line Operations.

Today, the college has acquired state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and amenities in food preparation, mock hotel, food services, and mock travel agency that will help in realizing the dreams to become a training center of TESDA and to produce globally competitive graduates who can serve in land, sea, and air.
